Boomers built modern cruising, and they still make up a large share of the people at sea. With more time, more travel experience and clear ideas about what they want, travelers 50 and over get the most from a cruise when it is matched to their style — not the other way round.

Common Questions
Which cruise lines are best for baby boomers?
It depends on your style. Travelers who want quiet, culture and no children often like Viking (adults 18+ on its ocean and river ships), Holland America, Oceania, Azamara and the river lines. Luxury lines such as Regent, Silversea and Seabourn add inclusions and space. Those who like lively ships still enjoy the big lines — just choose a longer itinerary or a school-term sailing to avoid peak family season.
Is there an age limit for cruising?
No upper age limit. Lines may ask late-stage pregnant travelers and some travelers with medical needs for documentation, and you should be fit enough to handle embarkation and the itinerary you choose.
Do cruise lines offer senior discounts?
Some lines offer fares for guests 55 and older on certain sailings, and AARP or similar member rates exist on some lines. They are not always the best price, so ask a specialist to compare them against current promotions.
